The Roanoke River at Weldon NC. has to be one of the most unique places to fish that I know of. It is what is called a "Tail Race" fishery. Thousands of Stripers come up from the Albemarle Sound to the falls at Weldon to spawn. At any time you can expect to find up to 50,000 + fish in a 5 to 10 mile stretch of water. You will find a great evening top water bite, and when the morning bite is on it's unbelievable. With live bait (Herring), you will catch the bigger fish, 15 to 30 pounds, and with artificial baits you can catch numbers of fish (30 to 100 fish a day) in the 1-15 pound range. This is a great place to bring the spouse and kids! Weather, waves, and wind are not a factor for those who are prone to sea sickness, and we can fish in the rain. The only thing to chase you off the river is lightning. I don't like that fire in the sky! It is a peaceful river, quite, serene, beautiful, where Snowy Egrets, Wild Turkeys & Carolina song birds fly the river all day. We fish in the 18' Polar Craft for this. Two people is ideal, but we can take a max of four with three fishing. If booked early enough I can make arrangements for multi boats. This is "World Class" fishing, and something that everyone should do in there lifetime!
